Layn Natural Ingredients, a specialist in botanical extracts and solutions for food, beverage, flavor, nutraceutical, personal care, and animal/pet industries, has announced the launch of an NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) ingredient produced through enzymatic catalysis.

NMN naturally occurs in the body and supports cellular energy production, metabolism, and healthy aging by boosting levels of NAD+, which naturally decline over time. At the end of September, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reversed its previous position, declaring that the ingredient is legal for use in dietary supplements.

“We’re proud to introduce our new NMN ingredient produced through enzymatic catalysis,” said Daniel Liu, PhD, director of R&D at Layn’s Shanghai Biyan Biotechnology. “This milestone underscores our ongoing commitment in biotechnology innovation. By leveraging precision fermentation and enzyme-based technologies, we are unlocking new ways to produce high-purity bioactives more efficiently and sustainably.”

The NMN ingredient is the fifth addition to the company’s precision fermentation and enzyme-based portfolio. Other ingredients include:

  • Galacan, a beta-glucan for gut health and general wellness, featuring a patented helical structure and 90% β-1,3; 1,4; 1,6 glucan content;
  • Resveratrol 98%, produced via fermentation for enhanced purity and consistency;
  • Stevia Reb-M, a high-purity natural sweetener created through bioconversion technology;
  • SteviUp M2, the newest generation Reb-M introduced in July, which is enzymatically bioconverted for strong solubility and a clean, sugar-like taste.

Layn is advancing other ingredients like Mogroside V, now at lab scale, with more to come under its growing biotechnology and enzyme production platforms.

Supporting the Global Sweetener Supply Chain

As the world’s largest producer of monk fruit and stevia, Layn offers vertically-integrated sourcing, including tissue culturing and seedling to farmer partnerships and quality control, ensuring consistent quality, stable output, and sustainable agriculture.

Layn provides multi-year monk fruit contracts with secured supply, guaranteed pricing, and long-term assurance to meet growing demand for monk fruit extracts, powders, and fruit juice concentrates.

Layn’s SteviUp M2, fermented Mogroside V, and U.S.-made sweetener blends can also meet demand for clean-label, reduced sugar applications.
